Come Ye Sons of Art Community Workshop and Performance

18 November 2012, 3pm

A workshop of Henry Purcell’s Come Ye Sons of Art led by Lesley Lewis.

Lesley Lewis is one of South Australia’s foremost choral tutors who currently directs the music at St Michaels, Mitcham Anglican Church, the Quire St Nicholas and the Hills Choral Society. She has had a long career teaching and performing recorder and harpsichord at The University of Adelaide and with Adelaide Baroque. This is the third time Lesley has presented her arrangement of Purcell’s ode in a regional community setting.

Anyone with a love of singing or playing baroque music (violin, viola, cello, oboe or recorder) is welcome to audition. The choir audition will include basic tests in rhythm, pitch and harmony and a demonstrated basic understanding of musical notation. Participating choristers and instrumentalists will be provided with a score and a practice CD at least one month prior to the workshop.
